Set in the fifties, a group of bikers on their way to the Florida Cycle Races stop for lunch in a small-town diner while repairs are being made on their motorcycles. Their macho leader, Vance (Willem Dafoe) flirts with the waitress while his buddies sit emanating menace in their attire and demeanour. Outside the diner Vance meets a rich, lonely sixteen year-old girl, Debbie (Tina L'Hotsky). Their immediate attraction to each other takes them to a nearby motel, but Debbie's father bursts in and drags her away. Still awaiting the repair of their motorcycles, the bikers return to the diner as the day lingers into the night. In defiance of her father, Debbie returns to the diner in search of Vance. Learning of his daughter's disappearance, Debbie's father becomes enraged and the scene in the diner turns into a tragic love story.
